Congrats Bugs,
Now all you need is WOODY POO POO to be a good boy and to give back what does not belong to him. If he does not do that then his buisiness will not get very far because bad boys will be known and folks will keep away from the bad boys.
sorry WOODY BUT YOU HAVE BROUGHT THIS ONTO YOURSELF..................

We don't even know if Woody still has the QED!!!!! It could now be in  SA or anywhere for all BW knows!

Many thanks for the congrats.
The certification came as a surprise because it was earlier than the due date of 18th May. It was always expected to get through as the GB and EF cancellation are all done at the front door (integrator) which is the best place to get rid of unwanted signals.
As you can see from the pics, I have been very busy over the last few weeks laying out the new board. It's smaller, 100 * 120 mm and the batteries fit inside the box. The 6 circles and associated lines on the bottom view show where the battery sits.
An extra micro has been added to provide the audio in conjunction with the micro SD card.
The encoders are external in a small plastic box with a cable running back to the box which can be mounted as aft as possible to counter balance the weight of the coil.
Rev 1 of the new board is running and works well with a 110mm diameter * 15mm thick donut magnet being seen at 11 feet with an 18" NF advantage coil. This is of course with Transmit and the EF cancellation turned off. It does indicate how important EF cancellation is if low nanovolt target signals are to be resolved.
Many thanks to Ginger Ninja for the QED logo.

regards

Hi Bug's,

The ergonomics of the QED compared to Minelab will be fantastic as the Minelab gear takes it's toll after a days beepin

The other thing to reduce weight would be the coil and this could be done with aluminium wires...1/3rd the weight of copper

Congrat's on the patent and also the new Rev 1 board

I would get what you meen if you waved a coke can in front of the 18" coil but the donut magnet i don't follow but take it as something to do with earth fields (ef) and i fail to see the relevance but if you said you could detect the coke can at eleven feet you suddenly got my interest

Does that meen you can detect an earth field down to 11' if that's the case no wonder detecting can be painful sometimes... i fink i see it now...gold nugg's at 2-3' and earth fields down to 11'...duh!!!.......pity we couldn't swap that around

Probably said enough, by

Ron

It just goes to show how sensitive the EF is to detect

Hi Bugs,

are there are advantages the new board & layout will will have over the old board other than size?

Including the power supply with the electronic box sounds a useful extra obviating a need for another cable & connections while minimising weight & potential power supply problems.

Will this new board now need to go through the same field testing regime as the older ones did?

Most on this forum look forward to hearing that more green lights have been turned on.

We trust you will keep us supporters & customers informed as "a QED in the hand is worth 2 in the bush!"

Doug, ....and Robby said on Finders (http://www.finders.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6045) last month that ......

"Oh dear: QED patent application in big trouble!"
"Why hasn't Dug and Bugs told members that the QED patent has failed?" (Robby-H)

Why Robby?  Coz it ain't TRUE!!   BUT, fear not, more truth is coming Robby for you and the demented flounders!

Huego you realy should look after your admirers on Flounders Follies by giving them all a QED, "you know" just something for them to remember you by.

Just a thought, as you realise they have been supportive all the way through.

Hi TWA ,

Thats a well suited logo for their QED it would be prudent to also send them an empty box and if opened it will self destruct in 1min.

Hi Huego,

The USB port is gone because YKW have a patent on transferring data, pretty sick huh?
The smaller board/box and remotely mounted adjustment encoders improve the ergonomics.
Most of the previous components have been retained so the testing will be about the minor changes, none of which are in high stress areas. I might add that there have been no component failures in any of the field test prototypes.

Ron

Yes Ron, special models for the Finders Flounders coild be marked with that QED logo with "special" colours.

Inside the box they could have what they expect ... a crumpet!  Clown Clown Clown

Nice logo for the Flounders Trevor. Thoughtfully designed. I am sure they would get the message.

Thats for the update Bugs. patenting a USB port????   ::55::  confused  They are a confounding company! No wonder they get so much deserved stick!

Hi Bugsy,

Let them sue, the way i see it it would cost them millions to win a patent infringement and in court they would sound very silly trying to patent downloading thru a USB to change settings!!!

Hi BW, you have audio stage incorporated. What about transferring data over sound card input/output?

The granting of the innovation patent sure makes topic this on flounders follies forum asylum now look totally stupid!
Oh dear: QED patent application in big trouble!
You also have to wonder whether some members there like patches junior and illanbric were born as idiots or became idiots as a result of posting so much on flounders follies forum asylum!
Anyway BW deserves full credit for getting the patent. Clap Hands terrific
I note the silence of Robby_H,Callumus,Vant and others on this issue. I guess they are trying to find ways to save face or maybe they are still trying to find ways to get egg off their faces! LOL
