ML latest US patent application
REAL-TIME RECTANGULAR-WAVE TRANSMITTING METAL DETECTOR PLATFORM WITH USER SELECTABLE TRANSMISSION AND RECEPTION PROPERTIES
Abstract
A highly flexible real-time metal detector platform which has a detection capability for different targets and applications, where the operator is able to alter synchronous demodulation multiplication functions to select different types or mixtures of different types to be applied to different synchronous demodulators, and also different waveforms of the said synchronous demodulation multiplication functions; examples of the different types being time-domain, square-wave, sine-wave or receive signal weighted synchronous demodulation multiplication functions. The operator can alter the fundamental frequency of the repeating switched rectangular-wave voltage sequence, and an operator may alter the waveform of the repeating switched rectangular-wave voltage sequence and corresponding synchronous demodulation multiplication functions.

This needs to be challenged by the other manufacturers ... they seem to be patenting any type of modulation and demod using any type of waveform with any sort of user adjustment. This could be applied to any sort of detector.

I agree! It is in my opinion is an attempt to patent metal detecting in all its forms! shocked shocked It should be posted on Geotech for start. Hopefully you or someone else there can start the ball rolling! If it stands then consumer choice will be stifled!

I knew it, that ML is playing an unfair game.

But we can make their life difficult with open-source developments.

Check out the last claim, #20.
Is it novel, is it inventive, does it advance the art or is it just good engineering practise?

One word describes it ... Ludicrous !

Not using the detectors existing audio stream for the user adjustment interface is just plain "dumb"

The likelihood for releasing the cat out of the box has been increased.
DEFCON level rised to level 3 (prior 4).

Hey, I'm working on an another solution. So there is another potential dangerous cat to release.

I cant resist this one either ....Bruce must be getting a great deal from his legal firm that prepped that patent because it is not compliant with American patent law recommendations.

Quote ....

Detailed description of the invention: must include at least one
embodiment that one of ordinary skill in the art can use without undue
experimentation, and the best mode known to the inventor at the time of
filing – should be short and specific, and should define any terms used in
the claims that don’t have a common meaning in the art

LOL ....

I cant see an embodiment anywhere in that patent ... more money down the drain.
