From  another QED user today:"Been out and about today testing and comparing against other machines etc in ground that has been horrible in the past.Bround balancing Ive found very simple and easy.'m using the Nokia booster but need a little more sound/threshold.Otherwise no complaints from me, very impressed."
and :"My QED with the 8” commander on it, out performed my SDC Got bits that don't register on my scales SDC has since been sold"

Stinky  Pete :http://www.detech-metaldetectorsaustralia.com.au/  is the  Australian distributor for the QED.
This is the only forum where you can talk directly with the designer/ manufacturer of the QED and  also some very experienced QED users.
Jrbeatty and Reg Wilson  and  Yellowfin  (or Doug here for that matter!)have NO vested  or pecuniary interests(or secret deals or cash for comment or any other undisclosed benefits )in the QED other than using it to find gold which it is doing very successfully! The ONLY people deriving  an income from the QED(other than finding good gold) are the 2 approved retailers and Bugwhiskers! The ONLY investor in the QED is Bugwhiskers!
I have never met Jrbeatty or Reg Wilson at Howards house or ANY other location!

Quote on BlueTooth
" The problem is that the transmitter has too much "latency" or delay in transmitting to the headphones. This places the target in the wrong location on the ground and in some cases, creates multiple false locations."

6666 what brands (FM) would you recommend to try and how do they compare to Bluetooth

Regards Geof.

I did a lot of work on the FM tx and rx compatibility of types and brands but never published it anywhere in full, there are very good TX' s with digital readout available on flea bay, I tried different analogue FM rx's , they all worked with no LAG.

I was testing them with my ACE 250 which has no headphone volume control , and over drove the TX, so I tried an inline volume control  and that fixed the over drive problem.

The TX's charge up from the USB port of your PC and last a fair time, they are so cheap just buy a couple and when the battery goes flat, just plug in the spare, and the right one's keep their tuning when turned off.

I tried a lot of different FM rx's , a couple of cheapy's  from reject shop and some off fleabay, the one I wanted to try I never bought, but it had a digital frequency display, what I found with most cheap FM rx's is that when you turn them off they loose their tuning, so that requires a retune when next you turn it on, but they all worked, and was a very cheap option for hands free.
This transmitter cost a whole $8.95 posted from Sydney, and the inline volume control was $1.50 posted from china.

Just plug in the TX via any adapter to the head phone socket.
Take notice that you need the TX with a 3.5mm jack plug that has only the three connections on the plug, tip, ring and sleeve, you dont want the one with two rings.

The reject shop, may still have  a small scanning FM receiver with ear buds for a whole $5.00, they are  ideal to pop into your shirt pocket and away you go, and they remember the last frequency tuned.
