Here is a project i found interesting. I've read the entire article, parts list and schematics.

It all looks good and simple to build, the software used in an open source US Navy software which anyone can download, links to it are on the page provided.

The only missing part of this DIY is the Python Script That is used for the  Raspberry Pi, which triggers the radio, T/R switch and MSO-19 via a buffered GPIO port once per second. In researching this, i dont think it would be to difficult to write a script up for the GPIO pins.

If anyone takes this on let us know

Thanks

Edit: helps if i put the link down, oops

Do you have to log into the site to get all the info ?

from what I can see from just clicking the link, it appears to be useing a commercial made Amateur band  VHF/UHF 145 and 435 mhz antenna if the project is saying use frequency's within the Australian Amateur radio band this is illegal in Australia and will cause harmful interference to legitimate Amateur radio operators,  The USA Federal Communications Rules DO NOT apply in Australia, if you are caught causing harmful interference to legitimate Amateur radio operators or other  legitimate Radio Spectrum users you will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law

I've had some time to have another look at this project. The project seems to use the wideband yagi antenna, this particular antenna is very similar to a dipole antenna commonly used by GPR but much much cheaper, the inventor of this project must have studied every aspect of the design, quite clever really.
