Some software and hardware updates now available for the QED.More  QED firmware updates (inc Auto GB  option) just announced here. New  QED hardware updates/options and pictures will be posted  first here  as they become available.

Another satisfied QED user! QED user report for 9 days detecting! User loves it, found it easy to use, found gold with it and he prefers it to his 5000! Also a report on a QED used at the beach for coin shooting.QED users reporting in with their multi ounce gold finds with the QED!
From  another QED user today:"Been out and about today testing and comparing against other machines etc in ground that has been horrible in the past.Bround balancing Ive found very simple and easy.'m using the Nokia booster but need a little more sound/threshold.Otherwise no complaints from me, very impressed."
and :"My QED with the 8” commander on it, out performed my SDC Got bits that don't register on my scales SDC has since been sold"
"My QED is terrific. Lightweight, very sensitive and screams at me when it hits any target. The Detect shaft and the 11" ultra sensing coil is a top quality fitout. I attached an external speaker which added under 200gms of weight in total and still remains very well balanced so i never feel fatigued after many hours of swinging."

Stinky  Pete :http://www.detech-metaldetectorsaustralia.com.au/ is the  Australian distributor for the QED.
This is the only forum where you can talk directly with the designer/ manufacturer of the QED and  also some very experienced QED users.
Jrbeatty and Reg Wilson  and  Yellowfin  (or Doug here for that matter!)have NO vested  or pecuniary interests(or secret deals or cash for comment or any other undisclosed benefits )in the QED other than using it to find gold which it is doing very successfully! The ONLY people deriving  an income from the QED(other than finding good gold) are the approved retailer and Bugwhiskers! The ONLY investor in the QED is Bugwhiskers!
I have never met Jrbeatty or Reg Wilson at Howards house or ANY other location!

RCD snubbers have been around for years. Colani in his 1960's patent referred to a switch between the HV and amp.
Eric Foster created a null summation of samples to cancel EF in 1968. Eric later expanded the use of an integrator as an averaging means to cancel log linear ground response. 5576624 expired in 2009 and 2011200515 was lodged in 2006 to segue.
When anyone mentions Minelab's IP, don't hold your breath waiting for them to elaborate.
Moodz, can you see any "Trade Secrets" in the SD2000?
Nothing is a secret if it's in the Public Domain.

...how about adapted and arranged ...

Adapted and arranged is old hat, worn out, the art has been advanced, it's now arranged and adapted.

Hi Doug & Members,

Black=sand was that a shot about the start of the SD 2000 in Australia

Here below is a story, it’s an interesting one, and was told to me by an early Minelab director.
This was also confirmed to me by one of the original detecting team, who was out there “testing” this money making wonder.

Cheers Alluvium.
=======================================

The Story of the SD 2000 PI’s.

July 1986. The Gold Seeker 15000 VLF was released.

Behind the scenes as each new Minelab VLF was being developed by the Consultant R&D Team at Adelaide University, things were also going on in the back ground.

These R&D people were quietly working away together on the development of their original University project, from way back in 1984, Dr. Don McCoy’s Pulse Induction Detector.

How much time was employed in perfecting this is not known, but it was happening behind the scenes, yet most of the Minelab group knew very little about it at that time.

But there is a very intriguing story about all this, especially over the years from 1987/ 88 up to 1995. Really it is a fascinating revelation.

Anticipating the abundance of gold to be found with this new prototype PI detector in Australia, these designers decided an arrangement should be put into place first.

That was to get a percentage of the gold from the “testing” of the PI. I am told this figure was set at a 25% share of the proceeds from the sale of all nuggets found.

The Gold came thick and fast from these field trials, and the money or gold arriving in Adelaide was greatly received. Pieter H, and his friend were soon rolling in it too.

More proto PI’s were made and “(lent out)” to other “trustworthy” and successful Aussie Pro’s over in the West, now things were really starting to snowball.

Then not long after this, a selected group of professionals, working at detecting for a living, mainly around the Wedderburn district of Victoria at this time, were bought into the fold, and provided with these new PI detectors.

Over the next few years, the goldfields were being gleaned (Some might say raped), of their golden bounty. This gold was being found by an ever increasing number of only, (especially chosen) lucky individuals.  Many large nuggets were found during this time.

As each new model VLF Minelab detectors  GT, FT, XT etc, were released to the public, behind the scenes, the New PI boards were neatly cut in half and slotted into the now smaller VLF plastic control boxes.

These disguised PI’s were effective enough to keep the big secret intact. This charade went on with many coloured cases used, e.g. both of the 2 Grey 16000’s cases, the Blue XT 17000’s and even the Red Gold-striker box were used.

To put this saga mildly, many fortunes were made, and many thousands of ounces rolled in over those years.
Some enormous nuggets were found, and we the detecting public knew nothing about what was going on.

With this wealth also being distributed in Adelaide to a lucky few
, you can be sure we the common Folk, would have all been kept in the dark for a lot longer, but for a few silly people.

Now that’s another Story in itself:

Edit for small corrections A.

The only timings that i know  are in the public domain are those of the SD2000 on the geotech forum. If you can borrow an SD2100 you can find the timings by using a CRO on the synchronously demodulated outputs.
