Following on from this thread :

I always thought it would be great if this could be done at home. I found plenty on the internet about making your own conductive ink, and I also found various links mentioning another process suitable for creating a conductive layer through holes and which can be plated to provide a robust connection. It all seemed to involve a lot of fiddling and jumping through hoops to get certain chemicals.

But over the weekend I revisited some of those old saved links and found some new ones which I would like to put here.

The above "instructables"  link is by authored by Sergiy Yevtushenco. Its based on method used in the old Soviet era. With the changes that took over, i.e Western influence, investment, methods - this process was almost forgotten. But it has regained some popularity amongst hobbyists,  worldwide. He gives a some useful tips in the comments section of his instructable.

Another link detailing the process. Part 5 very useful for anyone having trouble finding affordable calcium hypophosphite, and shows how to easily  convert cheaper and more readily available sodium hypophosphite into what is needed.

A youtube video showing the activating and plating :

And a constant current circuit for use in home copper plating :

So for anyone that is already setup for home photo-etching, and has a supply of copper clad board and dry film photo resist and suitable psu, the above links should offer some good leads on how to do it at home.

With practice, a layout like this one created by Mechanic (    ), could be done at home and result in a ready to solder board - in a few hours.
