Reg Wilson joined PA this morning and made a very brief post explaining why he had sold his ZED and now users the  QED.Not long after this his post and a reply to it are gone! My question is why did the moderators there remove these posts? Reg's post was brief, and informative and seemed fair and reasonable to me.

No QED users other than the 2 authorized retailers and of course BW have ANY vested interests in the QED whatsoever. Reg  Wilson is one of most successful and experienced  gold prospectors in  Australia and  could use any detector he wanted. If the QED was a piece of crap or poor value for money or full of problems and shortcomings then  Reg would be the last person to use the  QED or recommend it to others!

Doug, is it you who posts on PA as Aegpf?
If so, just want to point out that I spoke with Howard  over the phone some time ago, and he quized me on how I carry out my ground balance, and confirmed im using my machine correctly.
I will post my box down shortly and have the auto GB done, and that should be a big help, also confirm my numbers.

Yes. The point of my gb posts was to point out to any new QED users that the ML pumping Gb method will not give the correct GB.

I have put  a lot of posts on PA  over the least few days trying to help goldchaser and another user. Goldchaser appears to have a faulty QED and is unwilling to send this QED bacck to be checked out and updated. He says is won't handle the laterite  but does not go into detail about  how he set ups his QED or any of the settings!
So makes it hard to draw any conclusions and his problems could well be just as much operator error as  other factors.

Good reading in that thread. Nice to see long time detector users adapting successfully to the QED. It also seems to highlight that maybe a different approach to setup is needed when going into laterite soil type areas, as compared to the type of ground some early adopters were working in?

Goldchaser   has a faulty machine( gets noise when he squeezes the control box) so it makes it hard to draw any firm conclusion from his post. His detector needs to be returned th BW to be checked out and upgraded. I am sure that the upgrades in particular the expansion of the mode  range will help with his laterite ground. But  he seemed unwilling to go down this path and to give the QED a fair chance. Some of his comments I also do not understand like when he says the laterite ground some how "winds up" the QED? I am still none the wiser as to how to  tried set his QED.Some of the biggest problems are from QED users trying  to set up the QED  like  a ML Gp/GPX which it is not!

I hear and understand your concerns, Doug. Lets hope he sends his machine in.

But there were other users/posters in that thread with positive and/or constructive things to say about their experiences with the QED.

There are at least two other regular and respected posters in that thread who are QED owners. And whilst one of them has reported "teething" problems, he has also reported finding gold with it. I see the positives over there, and think that those are the types of posts that could help nurture and spread acceptance and understanding of the capabilities of the QED amongst members of a very active and open forum community and the thousands of non members who visit.

Like I said in my post above, nice to see long time detector users adapting successfully to the QED.
