Even if we get a vaccine their are many questions that will need to be answered. These are some of them.
How effective will the vaccine be? To get substantial herd immunity it will need to be at least 85% effective.
How long will the vaccine immunity last?
Will the population require booster shots?
Will like the flu , will we see covid mutations become significant and thus require "new" vaccines?
Perhaps the most critical question is will any covid vaccine provide protection for the most vulnerable people ie those over 60 years of age or immuno compromised or with a preexisting condition?
Many of these questions will require at least a year post vaccine to answer.
However even with a vaccine we will still have some people get sick and even die just as we do with the flu.
At least some of measures we have in place now to reduce the spread of the virus will in my opinion still have to be in place even with a vaccine.
