Apparently (according to halfie and co) I lack credibility because my camera date was once a week out.

Never try to argue with an idiots like Halfie as they will drag you down to their level! Anyone like Halfie who thinks they can "teach" a detector to find gold perhaps by constantly talking to it nicely lacks both credibility and common sense or is just plain bonkers!

I remember that and that's when all hell broke loose over the Gold being out of date of the photos shown and the QED and Reg and jrbeatty got banned.
Heavy stuff.

Doug,
They blamed you for all of that.

Every time I take the battery out of my SONY camera to charge it,
I need to reset the date when I turn the camera back on, which I rarely do,
I simply cannot be bothered doing it,
so the date and time on the majority of my pictures is wrong.

My old Pentax Optio S6 (the one in question) holds its set date during battery changes, but I have to readjust it pretty often because (for some reason) it seems to change over time. Before the incident in question, I never bothered doing this but I am more careful now.
Prompted by a post from one of my "Time Lord" critics on Halfies, I checked it again and it had moved slightly more than a day from its last accurate reset back in July.

There is another problem also with dates
if you download your photo to a PC and upload that original file then it will have the original date stamp that the camera was set to.

BUT if you copy your  original picture file to another folder on your PC then that copied picture  file will take on the current date and  time stamp that your PC is set to.

Very true, 6666. I have noticed that when uploading directly to a host service (Tinypic in my case) original camera data is preserved and displayed below the uploaded image on their site.

The attempt to  try and discredit you,Reg and ultimately the QED has failed spectacularly!

Definitely not going back there under any circumstances.

By contrast, I'm very impressed with DetectorProspector. Nice bloke Steve Herschbach. Has a very professional attitude and runs a tight, no nonsense forum, just like you, eh Doug?  happy face
