This thread by Reg on the QED has been hijacked by JP! He  hijacks it with his pictures and story of  some nugget finds using  the SAD7000 19 "dog coil" as Reg calls it

To give admin their dues on 4 umer it now appears that Jp's  hijacking post has now been removed.

Yes I noticed that too. Was pleased to see that post removed (finally).

JP's post promoting the "Dog Coil" apparently finding (posting pics) of nuggets for Reg & QED buyers, was inappropriate on a QED thread. Should not have been allowed. Typical RED HERRING stuff, like posted on US forums when QED or this forum were discussed in past.

I'm sure most others have noticed on Finders the diversions, misinformation/ questioning  (planting doubt) & personal attacks about the QED, its supporters or questioning of buyers or members here or just making silly miscellaneous stuff on the QED thread.

Field testing the QED - Reg Wilson

We all await the results of Reg Wilson’s field testing of a production QED. No product has it all, so it will contain good & not so good news I expect. Its good that his results will be posted there (on 4-umer) and not here as some distance from members here is important for his independence.

How can "a crumpet on a stick” called a QED be "a competent hobby detector”?
Or, is Reg being sincere when he says he thinks it shows promise - as a serious PI detector on par with most from ML or Whites? And why wouldn’t it be on par?

No need to tone down the excitement while the crow is cooking… its not getting softer so will not be easier to swallow.

Reg I suggest is just one of a few unoffocial QED testers. Its denigrators won’t all like hearing their findings / reports.
No doubt Reg WILL report with honest unbiased comments on its potential as "a ML slayer" (not our words).
He reported without fear of favour on "The Dog" coil. I don’t know Reg but hope he covers his testing thoroughly, weather permitting.

Of course the QED will find gold, we all know that. But he should cover all its strengths & weaknesses: its weight, size, functions, its cost / value for money, user friendliness /ergonomics, ease of use in field, ease of ground balancing, sensitivity to small med and large metal targets incl gold, weight, adaptability to change / upgrades, ability in goldfield ground (depth & handling ground noise), battery life, EMI resistance & flexibility eg to coil changes, coil inclination. These suggestied items* are just things that matter to ALL. Reg knows what matters to detectorists.  I doubt he will take months ... weeks at most to make his conclusions. Its just hot and that limits what Reg can do on a summer day.

Yellowfin as a buyer (on Finders) has already highlighted a few of its features and attributes, most are facts (which Reg agrees with) ie not subjective. I think that it being "hand-built" is in this case an attribute, not a disadvantage, except it may cause delays in meeting orders.

PS: He's having a fairly cool day of 26-28 deg (in shade) so he may be able to get out with the QED again.

* these are suggestions for Reg to address in his reporting, not a "shopping list" or instructions GB.
