If GR is correct, I wonder if he is willing to acknowledge the impetus provided by pending competition?
I like the idea of testing under controlled conditions, about bloody time, this is the very least that the punters deserve.

Hi Doug & Bugs,

As I said in my analysis of the ML sagging sales figures, they HAVE to try something if continued sales are not dependent on stuffing Turkey or new gold rushes like Sudan.

(extracts from post #17)

http://australianelectronicgoldprospectingforum.com/general-chat-and-discussion-forum/codan-ltd-%28including-minelab%29-2011-annual-report/msg18318/#msg18318

"....... Not sure if the Turkey is stuffed yet ……. It may need a bit more stuffing (sales)!!
Yes, all those used 4500s & 5000s  may soon be out there, looking for new owners at LOW prices . (Paid for by found gold of course so almost disposable.)
IF a new ML model is REAL GOOD everyone will not only want one, but will want to sell what they have, driving prices down, down.

Two thoughts come to me.......

1) Maybe this is the time for ML to let go of that pent-up technology that has been secured as IP, patents etc !
Turn all those sweet patents & the former ‘technology trickle’ into a REALLY NEW product & a flood of new sales
!!

2) PRAY -  for a new gold rush somewhere …… ANYWHERE!  If its in a first world country all the better! "

Meantime, what else is is out there scaring ML or exciting the punters????   excited shocked excited shocked

The rumours must be true then, testing of the UD pulling 10, 20 oz nuggets at depth on your Vic goldfields, must have ML and competition worried.

Where did the UD info come from? Is it from Woody?

At this point the only competition they have is Whites!
They have heard all the promises ,from the punters before.
No one has produced anything yet ,to scare anyone with.

But as usual the whole story is most likely pure BS,just another
load of hype,to work the suckers into a frenzy. rolleye 1

I don't put any credibility to any of these detector rumours, you have to see a full working model to convince me now. And how hard is it to log into this forum, I had to hide all my computer cookies to get access, it says I'm banned.

I have no idea why this happened to you.The log files show nothing and their is NO IP address ban for your Ip's.
I wonder if the game changer rumor is in fact an authorized controlled leak?

But met an interesting gentleman last week on his way through here. What he said Made sense to me and surely got my attention

Apparently GR has some inside information on the game changer ? who knows whats true and whats B/S, the forums are full of half truths, pure outright B/S and fabricated rumours to get the masses into a frenzy. I don't believe any of it and don't believe that piece of B/S I posted up either on the UD it's B/S also.

I think I've said B/S enough so I will throw the   BS meter in for good measure.

Now to the important part, who is the mysterious gentleman he met ? I'll take a wild guess, Batman, Superman or was it the Green Lantern.

PI Penetrator 5500

       - 5 feet detection on a soda can (shoulda been a beer can, not a soda can for Australian sales!)
       - $3500 Aust or best offer!, Ex USA
       - Uses tow-behind blanket coils

It's NOT THE GOLDSWEEPER (renamed) IS IT ..... Alan? !   excited excited

                    Nar, didn't think so!  Clown

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PI-Penetrator-5500-Metal-Detector-/120475782603?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c0cea8dcb#ht_2033wt_1165

Some info from the link:

The PI Penetrator 5500's deep target detection and the discrimination and detection of smaller, deeper targets makes it the best-in-class in pulse induction technology. The optional additions of our blanket antenna and the pulse induction imaging this amazing machine produces, gives the user deeper detection and discrimination of deeper, smaller targets than standard VLF or Pulse Induction detectors. The built-in data ports allow for data logging and optional 3D Imaging and GPS software, which helps the user visualize the target by shape and size and map its location.

The 3 foot square coil or the optional blanket antenna can identify and discriminate targets

Standard package includes:

PI Penetrator 5500 Control Unit
Leather Carry Case with Strap
12V Extended Life Battery
12V Charger
11” Round Coil Antenna
3 foot Square Coil - With Magnetometer with Carry Strap
2 Sets screw and washers, 2 zip ties
3-PC Handle
PC cable (RS232)
Headphones
User Manual

Antenna options:

Antenna Options for the PI Penetrator 5500 include different sized blanket antenna to cover the ground more evenly. These come in 3 different sizes:
1.5' (towed by hand)
3' (towed by hand and towbar)
6' (towed by towbar only)

Imaging Options:

Our 3D Imaging Software can be used with a GPS system for pinpointing and visualizing the shape and size of the buried object. In the picture to the right, the red shape in the middle of the scan represents a found target (soda can down 5 feet). Because of the precision with which this equipment works, you can digitally "see" small, as well as large objects

Hi Huego,

I didn't want your long post to be shown again, so I'm answering this post regarding the "game changer".  The name "Accurate Locators" has appeared in other contexts, but  this PI model is something new.  As a simple PI detector can not really provide accurate discrimination against ferrous targets, there's something missing in the description.

This is definitely not the GoldSweeper, although the 5' beer can detection capability is similar.  The ML pricing policy is creating a lot of competition and the prospectors will benefit, provided the new detectors cropping up will live up to the promises.

The "Nexus' detector makes a lot of promises, but the testing procedure is invalid, in my opinion.  Having the coil sitting on the ground, motionless is no different from a bench test.  A good detector must be able to differentiate
between varying ground mineralization, e.g. hot rocks, and a good target.  This can not be tested with the coil
just sitting on the ground.

It will be interesting to see if any valid testing will be done to show the actual capabilities of this detector.

The GoldSweeper is still a work in progress and getting close to the field testing stage...
