I need people to try downloading and installing some different themes for the forum .If any cause a problem then I can restore you back to the default. This way I don't take the risk of  again of buggering up the forum!
This is the site for the official repository of themes. They must be compatible with SMF version1.1.11

I have changed the settings to "Allow members to select their own themes" and unticked the other box.
So try again and tell  me what happens and any message you get when you try to change your theme.

Doug, I changed the "theme" (appearance of the forum, colours etc) yesterday and it went smoothly without any problems. So I would recommend it those who wish to try. I think you work through the options available in your personal profile.

Your other changes on limiting viewing / access of some forums by some members (moles) is probably a good move. ;)

After Doug`s little fiddle it appears the option to change the themes has disapeared from the personal profile page.

I have removed this option because if a member changes to a theme which causes problems like locking them out of the forum then I may not always be able  to fix up the problem and then I have to go to the the web host and pay to have the problem fixed.I can restore it to what it was but at your own risk! If this is ok i will change it back to what it was.

Do members want the option of selecting their own themes?

I would say, speaking for myself only, that its preferable but not essential Doug.
One adjusts to one theme (colour and layout) eventually.
