Hi Doug,

I will post some photos of recent gold finds to encourage the real triers out there.

It will also show those on flounders forum, that the settings we use on the 4500 & 4000 with a mono loop coil and the correct height to swing above the surface speaks for itself.

Those that scrub the ground with a mono coil only get the shallower bits and miss these better nuggets.

The first pic, is of some of 26 ozs found over 2 weeks in May this year.  There are a few here from the June finds after cleaning. The smaller pieces from May were sold off.

Cheers Alluvium.

PS the largest one is 7ozs.

Hello Doug,

I hope you are not tiring of looking at these.

The next group of nuggets were found in Mid July this year. Total was 12.5 ozs

They were found over 8 Days of Detecting, the largest was 96 grams and was a sun baker on the surface, winking in the sun.

Cheers Alluvium

A wonderful display of your finds. Beyond my wildest dreams! A credit to your skill and knowledge, much which you have  willingly shared with us here. I guess this is all  Vic Golden Triangle gold *?

Thanks Alluvium, its kinda inspiratonal but also I think unreachable! I am a bit envious I must say!

Huego

Late edit*: 3 states eh?  WA, VIC & Qld  (Geff was the wrong order)  ;D

Hi Huego,

Great looking stuff eh.  These were found by close friends and were posted to show those doubters on flounders forum that their scrubbing the ground method with a mono coil is the wrong way to go.

You will miss more gold than you find and that is the best gold of all.
I cannot say where it was found, except across 3 states of OZ.

Hi Alluvium

Can you explain why scubbing a mono coil is wrong. How high above the ground?
And does it only apply to mono's

Thanks for your time

Hi Tom ( turtleman,)

Scrubbing a Mono coil on the ground overloads the circuit, it also creates excess noise masking out the deeper signals.

We would recommend no closer than 1.5"inches, preferably 2"inches from the surface over mineralised ground.

Yes this only applies to mono's, you can scrub a DD coil at all times to get the deepest response and we do.

Cheers Alluvium.

Turtleman )

Hi Turtleman,

Ground balancing to or on the very surface may well settle it down first up, but you will find as you walk over changeable hot ground, it is being affected more so than if your mono coil was 2"ins from the deck.

If you now consider we detect in Fixed G/B, it means more regular G/Balancing every few paces.

Both GPX's run so quiet in S/Smooth and Enhance, you do not realise just how much the detector is struggling to cope when scrubbing the surface with a mono.

Cheers  Alluvium.
