all i have is a counterfeit Gold Bug Pro
Sorry to hear this.I hope you do get a Pi or a suitable VLF. If you do decide to get a QED you always know that you are only a phone call away from talking with  the person that designed and builds the QED's in  Ballarat. I don;t know of any other detector that you can do this with.

Doug, it worked ok. Even before I received it someone else pointed it out to me. I notified the seller of such and had a refund, all this prior to receiving it! I have a Nel Sniper on its way for it. Still, it struggles in the ground at Beechworth.

Well it is a second hand unit which doesnt help Bugs much but i would have really liked a new unit. Being out of work due to health issues and not being a ‘doler’ makes the budget tight.

I'm also new to this forum and soon to be proud owner of a QED, I had never ventured outside of Detectorprospector forums but discovered this is the go to place for reliable QED information so I signed up.  Thanks Howard for your efforts in the bringing the QED to us all, competition was desperately needed and for you to make a product that can compete with the big boy in the game is remarkable.   I am confident I will have my first QED gold very soon.

I have tacked on more information on JP's QED review on Detectorprospector as I found his review was making the QED sound very difficult to use which it is clearly not.

Welcome Simon,

Now, I couldnt let you get a QED before i did!   smile

I agree those vids do make it a little easier to learn the setup.

Thanks :) now the race will be on to see which one of us gets the first gold with one! You'll get a head start as you'll get yours first!   I'm rather excited to test my 12x6" X-Coil prototype on it.  With the QED sensitivity to small gold combined with that coil and it's combination of flat and bundle windings it might be a real little gold hoover in our mild soils here.

Id say you have won that one already mate. It will be more of a learning curve for me. It would be nice to think i could produce something my first time out. We shall see!

Guys, Simon has been most instrumental in my learning of detecting. He Has been immensely helpful in educating me in the the month or so of my detecting so with him having a QED it will be absolutely awesome!

Hi everyone,
I have split the ‘JP review” post as I believe the xcoil discussion has moved away from the original intent of the post and that I believe the discussion re the xcoils deserves a thread in its own right.

Cheers Goldman
