Many thanks to Reg Wilson for sussing out the promising area yesterday.

Was the signal a high or low tone?
What size ws the coil? What QED settings were you using?

I hear that someone has been detecting in the general area with SAD 7000 as judged by the unfilled holes dug on tree roots!!!

The coil is "capsule" shaped. Straight sides and half circle ends. Apart from being light weight, these coils allow a lot of ground to be covered each swing. In the case of this 12" * 4" coil, about 9 inches per swing. The target this time was only shallow so any detector/coil would have found it. There are no signs of previous diggings at this spot so considerable effort will go into cleaning it out ASAP. Topsoil ~2"-4", gravels 4" to 6" thick then 0range clay. The target was a falling pitch, settings GAIN 4, MODE 4, THS-A 65, THS-B 48. Reg has shown clearly that research is the key to success.

Nice Find Howard
It's a shame I couldn't get the time to catch up with you and Reg when I was down
The weather during my window of opportunity for detecting, was way to hot.
Hope to get some time during the cooler months.

Nice nugget there Howard.
Good to see  you get gold instead of testing all the time.
Good to see the maker of the QED get the gold before Reg did.  happy face

Nice to see Howard find time to have a detect and receive a reward for the fruits of his labour.
