Hi bugwhiskers, thanks for upgrading my QED, if you can let me know the tracking number when you send it back that'd be grand, helps me when I have to deal with customs on it's way into the country and then I can contact them rather than waiting for them to send a letter out to me to say it's in customs.

The MGB factory preset is now 150, with range being 1 - 300. Use a very slow bob and perform the MGB by initially holding the appropriate up/down button in until the QED goes quiet, then release and finalise the GB by incrementally adjusting MGB until quiet in both directions (when bobbing up and down).

The initial direction (up or down arrow) is determined the same as before.

Be aware that as the new GB handles the ground so much better, the AGB is less effective than before. Just use it now to determine the up/down direction as it will move just a few numbers. Use the direction to perform the MGB as above.

I have also noticed that the MGB works best if THS-B = NULL.

It appears in my soil I don't need to ground balance at all, I tried manual ground balance and even setting it at 1 I could pump the coil and get no ground feedback so I tried Mode 11 (No GB) and it was fine.  I ran in Mode 11, Gain 10 no troubles..

Here's a youtube video of me having a play with it once I got it back after the update.

The buried nugget in the video is 0.095 of a gram.

Let me know if I'm doing anything wrong  excited

Probably your coil bobbing is somewhat to quick (according Goldman instruction above).

Yep, the bobbing is way to fast for the QED MGB. Needs to be very slow and moving about roughly 12” to MGB effectively.

The bobbing wasn't to do with ground balancing, I was in mode 11 (beach mode) anyway which I believe has no ground balance, the bobbing was to show no reaction from the ground going up or down, or even hitting the ground in Mode 11 with gain of 10 using the Coiltek Joey 10x5" mono.

The exact same thing in Mode 1, Gain of 10.  If I recall correctly in this location prior to the update I had to keep my GB number above 45 to stay balanced, now I can take the GB number right down to 1 in Mode 1 and remain balanced.  It seems this new update has made me not need to ground balance at all anymore as I'm always balanced anyway.  I'll try in more locations and see what happens but I like what I see so far.
