Thanks for that link Simon.

Interesting as you read, the answer to their requests so many times is the QED, and will be more so with the latest updates implemented. Its unfortunate that some deny the obvious for personal reasons and personality glitches. Also it would be difficult for some to stray from the security blanket of Minelab. “Minelab are you listening?” FCOL!

Yep, to his credit & courage he faces the QED which is everything we said it was then (wrt size, ergonomics, price, performance), yet it has been improved further and will be improved even more.

SH was " ..particularly incensed when an upstart company from Australia showed up the industry leaders at the time with the world's most powerful gold detecting PI machines...."  excited  Oh the shock, oh the disbelief ... how could they do that?

... Right now I am calling the Australian made QED as being the default winner of my challenge. The rough edges have been smoothed out, and it's got the ergonomics, coil selection, and price all right. I am not going to argue with anyone over performance. Based on what I know it's good enough for me to go find gold and easily beats the TDI and is competitive with GPX. Good enough for me. Good job boys... " (Steve Herschbach, Admin )

Good enough for Australian prospectors too.

Huego  happy face

edit: I notice the immediate "push back" by JP.  smile

Yeah Huego i noticed that comment and was surprised to hear that from Steve. Many Americans do get like that with competition from offshore. Still, he is being very neutral to come to the decision to run one.

Jonathan Porter surprised me because the way i read it he just wasnt willing to except the capabilities of the QED even after a couple of years and upgrades.

It all comes down to ones agenda i spose.

Bravo to Steve for his objective position (mostly in general, not in this case only)! Hat down.

Curious what was Steve price lost at his GPZ sale (hope it was free testing model)? More than QED new price?

Steve is a very balanced and honest guy, he's asked me a number of questions about my QED privately, showed a genuine interest in it.  He's certainly not brand biased like some people make out.  The QED is starting to gain momentum with positive posts and reviews on it.  Howard is doing a wonderful job with it and the new updates coming.

It's reputation is changing as its user base changes.  Reg Wilson has put up some really good posts lately on DP that have helped peoples view of the QED and put an excellent review on the detector database over there.

I intend to also do a review on the Database once I feel confident enough in my ability to operate the QED at it's best.

 thumbs up!
