I see on another forum that someone is selling their QED. A  increasing common theme  or reason for the sale seems to be that they  "cannot get their QED to run stable or quiet".So  is additional info required in the instruction manual?
actual quote
“Bogger”
“Reg post the vid up, would be interested to see how it goes as all the owner / users I have spoken with say the set up and getting it to run smooth is their main gripe with it---------- “

just thinking,
doug smile
i rekon people only read manual once give it a go and put it in cupboard for another day, ive done it myself with the vlfs in the 90s, when the pi,s came out it made me read manual and re read several times over and even out in field, i have done exactly same thing with qed plus other settings research on forums, and have had no probs with the machine yet, before agb update, and after. you only get out of something what you put into it imo ........ p.s. maybe a quick start guide matched to the 11"detech coil its sold with for the newbies. other than that maybe all good here.  good luck

The videos to be made should help a lot, maybe even making the  manual redundant.
If stuck, reload factory default settings. Set #2 to neutral, perform GB, raise #3 until desired audio threshold acheived,  increase gain a step at a time.

It would be very usefull to see a video of -
From factory reset to properly tuned over a bare (no container ) sub gram nugget in the ground 20-30MM at a real gold field, with a 8x6 sadie or 8 inch commander  coil showing all the settings, thanks.

#1 MODE, as low as ground will allow.
#4 GAIN as high as possible.

Either

#3 THS-A Low & #2 THS-B low as possible

                     OR

#2 THS-B neutral and #3 THS-A High as possible.

Will ask that such a video be included in the set.

Thank you.

Another video I would like to see is BW states

One of the tests before any detector goes out the door is to use a 1mm diameter nugget and with a SADIE coil it needs to be 2" or better.

Would like to see that test and the settings, and the weight of 1mm nugget thanks.

The "nugget" won't register on my scales.
Weather permitting I will do a video.

Hi Howard, when you say threshold A ‘low’, what number (or number band) did you have in mind, cheers

With the talk about tiny nuggets I performed an air test (yes an air test) inside the house with the QED and 8" mono on my tiniest nugget a 0.05gram measuring 3mmx 2mmx 0.393mm(0.015") thick.

Using Factory Reset setting a clear response with nugget rubbed against the coil.
Then lowered THS-B by 2 numbers or positions below the Neutral or Null and response on Nugget was out at 12mm.
Then raised Gain from 1 up to 5 and nugget response was now out to 25mm.
Lowered Mode from 3 down to 1 and nugget was now out at 30mm
Finally raised THS-A from 30 up to 60 and the nugget was faint at 50mm.

The result was as good as possible considering the test was inside the house.

Have attached a couple of photos of the nugget.

Gary.

The factory default for THS-A is 30, that's what it would have been.
