Climate news
Contribution to global warming by Australia. Australia has one of the highest per capita emissions of carbon dioxide in the world, with 0.3% of the world's population it produces 1.4% and rising(not the .08% the  finders forum dope "Inhere" claims!) of the world's greenhouse gases. Australia also has the highest per capita emissions in the OECD, with 26 tonnes of greenhouse gasses being emitted per person every year.
Australia's C02 emissions rise for the 4th year in a row.

G’days,

Is there a preferred ohms rating for headphones and earplugs for the PL2?

Some of the cheap Ebay amps have an advertised rating of SNR>100db and except headphones with an ohms rating between 10-150 ohms.

I assume reasonable earplugs will suffice in these amps? Is 100db low enough in noise?

If ‘approved’ the likes of one of these amps will do in the interim.

Thanks guys.

Worth keeping in mind that the lower the impedance, the more efficient the headset drivers are in converting the incoming electrical energy into sound. On the contrary, the higher the impedance, the more electrical energy is required to drive the headsets tiny speakers. So which is more suited for the PL-2, a lower ohm impedance headphone or a higher ohm impedance headphone, maybe BW can answer that?

The audio is always going to be problematic because the level of signal to adequately drive headphones is likely to overload an externally amplified speaker system and vice versa.
I have some ear buds that were supplied with a Samsung phone and they work great. Some of the cheaper earbuds don't work so well. The Logitech speaker supplied as standard is the best compromise and it's also Bluetooth so if desired you can shoulder mount and ditch the tethering cable.

Thanks Mylab and Howard.

I may end up with the Quest system like Northeast runs as he seems to really like that setup.

I dont mind the speaker but plenty of people swear by the clarity of phones/plugs. Phones I would find uncomfortable after awhile particularly in summer plus i want to be able to hear my surrounds more.

Yeah ok, good point there JR.

My concerns are raised by the recent run in with a couple of young blokes that could have turned quite nasty.

If i take my little mate as I usually do, he’ll alert me.

Yep, thats the ticket! Im currently using a Bunnings pick but i have one from Muk on its way. It looks more threatening! That along with the ‘pig sticker’ may help.

I got one off Phasetech a week or so ago so I could use headphones when necessary without having a damn cord, it works very well on the QED with nice volume, it even has a volume control which is nice.
