Thanks Doug.

That was prior to the QED going back to Howard who fixed a solder issue - it had been causing an issue with unstable Gain. I actually now run the QED at about Null and have the Gain between 6 and 10. Much easier to ground balance with THS B at Null (I find) and far more sensitive than the Gain at 1 or 2.

However, I have actually just posted the QED for sale on P.A. forum and DP forum.

Hi Northeast, just curious, were you still able to run with the audible threshold tone after repairs?

Yep, no troubles.

Null for my unit is 46 and that is where I run it 90% of the time now.
THS A at 50.
Mode can often be run at 1.
Gain at 6-10 - whatever is stable.
GB at whatever it needs to be.

The Quest Wireless unit I use is turned right up and this makes the Threshold quite audible using the sports ear buds I have (they let in ambient sound) and a little too loud if I have the Bauhn Noise Cancelling Headphones on.

Northeast once you have sold your current QED PL3 as you now have it up for sale will you be updating to the QED PL4?

Hi mylab,

QED has sold.

Going to get a GPX 6000. Hoping it is going to be as good at mineralised ground/hot rocks as the SDC but a lot more versatility and depth. Bit of a risk owning the first of any line but hopefully it works out.

Still keen to watch the development of the QED though. The PL4 revamp and weight reduction is pretty special. Coupled with a Sadie or a small Elite they will be a real boon to those that struggle with a hefty detector.
