Yesterday I fished Talbot reservoir ( a small domestic water supply reservoir for Talbot) for the first time. The reservoir is only 20% full  and the water is crystal clear. Recently liberated small trout were a pest when fly fishing continually nipping at the fly. However after trying a few areas and fishing some deeper water near the wall i was fortunate to hook a good 3 and a quarter pound brown which  put up a spectacular fight leaping from the water quite a few times.Walking back to the car after dark i encounted a mob a kangaroos which were some what reluctant to move on! One was a very large male that only decided to move on when i got very close!
I am going to smoke the fish and the Jenny and i will have it for  tea.

I smoked the fish after using a different pre curing method and had it for tea and it was superb. I love catching them and when they are as good (it had a beautiful orange red flesh due to eating crustaceans) as this one eating them! I still have some  trout and Chinook salmon i caught earlier in the freezer and a 3 and 3 quarter pound english perch (Redfin) that i caught on the fly at lake Purrumbete that i still have to decide how to cook!

Nice fish , Makes me wonder what is living in the small local reservoir here . Now a fenced in flora and fauna reserve must have some monsters in there

Yes caught on the fly! I was fishing with 2 flies and the fish took the top dropper fly which was a classic Australian pattern I tied myself called the Tom Jones.I was using a Scientific anglers floating line( GPX mastery 6) with a very long 6lb bs FC leader and fishing blind  over weed beds using a very slow retrieve.
